Benefits of individualized Literacy interventions

 

     Language and literacy skills include listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Some students develop proficiency only when they are taught skills within a supportive environment of appropriate and intensive instruction designed to meet their specific learning profile.

     Key features of individualized literacy interventions include explicit, systematic and sequential teaching of literacy; cumulative practice and ongoing review; a high level of student interaction; the use of carefully chosen examples and non-examples; decodable text; and prompt corrective feedback. 

 

     Assessing, preventing and overcoming reading difficulties by using selected instruments and interventions that are specialized, highly-structured, systematic and multi-sensory is critical for these learners to meet their potential.
